As we open this year’s Fall Conference, the Chair and Vice Chair of NIC will reflect on more than 30 years of growth and evolution in the senior housing and care sector. They will explore how NIC has helped shape the industry over the decades, with a special focus on the organization’s commitment to fostering transparency and access to reliable data, resulting in both attracting and driving down the cost of capital. This session sets the stage for the conference by highlighting the foundational role NIC has played—and continues to play—in supporting informed decision-making and responsible growth.

The opening NIC Signature Session will kick off the conference with new groundbreaking NIC research in partnership with NORC at the University of Chicago. Prior research showed that, on average, older adults residing in a senior housing setting live longer and have better health outcomes. Learn about new research on the benefits for those specifically with dementia and related diagnoses who reside in senior housing settings as well as insights into the relationship between length of residence in a senior housing community and related health outcomes. Panelists will discuss implications for owners, operators and strategic partners and frame the current opportunity for innovative new models.
