James Balda is President & CEO of Argentum where he is responsible for the overall leadership of the association and with transforming its vision and mission to meet the changing needs of the senior living industry.
Under Balda’s direction, Argentum has successfully implemented a new and more inclusive membership model, rebranded the association to reflect the evolving landscape of the senior living industry, launched a foundational set of quality standards and developed an executive director credentialing program designed to further professionalize the senior living industry and continues to help navigate the industry through the COVID-19 crisis. He spent 2015 touring the country meeting with senior living executives, policymakers, academics, and other advocates for older adults to better understand the industry’s key imperatives and to help define Argentum’s role in shaping a healthy, robust future for senior living.
Prior to his work with Argentum, Balda served in several roles at the National Restaurant Association where he was responsible for business development, product strategy, and membership. He also was charged with transforming the association’s brand, marketing and communications activities, and state partner relationships.
