Marilynn Duker

As CEO, Marilynn has overall responsibility for directing both strategy, operations and long-term growth of the business. Marilynn joined the company, then known as The Shelter Group, in 1982. She began her career as a developer and has since been involved in every phase of the company’s operations and growth.

Headquartered in Baltimore, Brightview Senior Living operates a 41 community portfolio of Independent, Assisted Living and Dementia Care communities in eight states throughout the Northeast. Brightview employs over 4,600 associates. In 2019, Fortune Magazine and Great Place to Work (GPTW) named Brightview Senior Living the #1 Best Place to Work in senior housing and care among large companies in the U.S. Additionally, Brightview was the only senior living company in the nation named to Fortune Magazine’s top 75 Best Places to Work for Women across all industries.

Marilynn serves on the Mercy Health Systems Board of Trustees (Vice Chair), the University of Maryland at Baltimore BioPark Corporation Board of Directors, The College of Wooster Board of Trustees and the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing (NIC) Operator Advisory Board. In 2019, she was named the Loyola University of Maryland Sellinger School Business Leader of the Year. Marilynn is a graduate of The College of Wooster and holds a Master’s Degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
