Daniel K. Hayes is Senior Director and Head of Midwest Region Originations at New York Life Real Estate Investors, where he leads a team responsible for originating commercial real estate loans for the Midwestern US.

With 30 years of experience, Dan has structured and managed commercial real estate debt and equity investments across diverse property sectors, including seniors housing, healthcare, multifamily, industrial, office, and hospitality. Previously, he held leadership roles at Heitman, LLC, Hunt Investment Management, and Capmark Finance, consistently demonstrating success in building market share.

Early in his career, Dan was an underwriter at GE Healthcare Financial Services, specializing in seniors housing and medical office lending. Dan holds a dual bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Spanish from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master’s degree in Regional Planning from Cornell University with a focus on Real Estate Development.

Dan also holds executive certifications in Seniors Housing Management from Johns Hopkins and Hotel Real Estate from Cornell. He actively serves as a board member for the Illinois Housing Development Authority and is engaged with the Cornell University Real Estate Council.
