John Arabia is the Founder & CEO of Taylor Vance LLC., a real estate investment and advisory group based in Laguna Beach, California. Prior to founding Taylor Vance, he was the President & CEO of Sunstone Hotel Investors, Inc. (NYSE: SHO), a Real Estate Investment Trust that owns, redevelops and asset manages a $4 billion portfolio of upper-upscale and luxury hotels across the US. During his over-ten-year tenure at Sunstone, the company delivered the second-best total shareholder return out of the ten lodging REITs. Prior to joining Sunstone, Mr. Arabia was a Principal at Green Street Advisors, the preeminent REIT research platform.

During his fourteen years at Green Street, he authored over six hundred research reports, primarily related to the major lodging owners, managers, and franchisors, as well as the major healthcare REITs. He was consistently one of the firm’s top stock pickers. Mr. Arabia is the Lead Independent Director of Janus Living (NYSE: JAN), a pure-play senior housing REIT, that owns a roughly $5 billion portfolio of high-quality senior housing communities across the United States. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Essex Property Trust (NYSE: ESS), an S&P 500 Company, which owns and operates a $25 billion portfolio of apartment communities on the West Coast.

Prior director service also includes the board of EdR (NYSE: EDR), which was privatized in 2018 and was one of America’s largest owners, developers, and managers of collegiate housing. Mr. Arabia lives in Laguna Beach, CA with his wife and their twin sons.
